Quality Inspector "B"

12 Hour - 36/48 Rotating Schedule, 5:00 am to 5:00 pm

Summary: Audits processes to ensure all systems and procedures are being followed and inspects product to ensure requirements are being met.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Inspects finished product or in-process product and determines acceptance or rejection.
  2. Evaluates product against standards and using simple measuring tools, equipment and fixtures.
  3. Assures quality with regards to line clearance, raw materials, manufacturing, and housekeeping.
  4. Uses basic math skills, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules and computer input devices (scales, micrometers, calipers, gradient cylinder, force gauges, mag mic).
  5. Audits reports, forms, records and comparable data to ensure compliance to procedures and requirements.
  6. Must use some judgment to comply with instructions, prescribed routines, methods and/or practices or to respond to preset computer menu choices or preprogrammed computer commands involving making minor decisions.
  7. Responsible for the training and guidance of less experienced inspectors and production personnel with respect to QC methods and procedures.
  8. Follows Product Safety and Quality standards
  9. Follows FDA GMP’s in regards to food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee
  10. Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE)
  11. Practices good housekeeping including clutter-free work area and general cleaning; follows FDA product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all  Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements
  12. Adheres to  lockout procedures any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained
  13. Must have regular and consistent attendance
  14. All other duties as assigned



  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One (1) year up to and including three (3) years of experience in quality inspection or one (1) year experience in the Company’s manufacturing environment.
  2. In work related situations must be able to take direction and communicate in English on a one-on-one basis or in group situations as well as read and understand written documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  3. Bilingual English/ Spanish skills are a plus.
  4. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  5. Must have the ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  6. Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  7. Must be able to read micrometers and calipers, digital force gauge, as well as work independently, with minimal supervision.
  8. While performing this job, the employee will stand, sit or walk around.
  9. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.
  10. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  11. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  12. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  13. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  14. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  15. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  16. Required to wear hearing and eye protection while on production floor.
  17. Normal care is required in operating equipment or performing duties to prevent injury to others.
  18. Will be required to follow Company Safety procedures.
