Responsible for the material flow of Finished Goods and Samples throughout a warehouse and distribution operation by managing staff, establishing policies and procedures, measuring success and taking corrective actions where appropriate by performing the following duties:     

Essential Function/Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops, implements and maintains standard operating procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, disposition and distribution of materials, accuracy of perpetual inventory, FIFO, and location tracking resulting in cost effective efficiencies for flow of materials throughout more than one facility on both shifts.
  2. Maintains inventory accuracy of greater than 99% by taking daily cycle counts and assists production schedulers in maintaining data on appropriate inventory levels and turns.
  3. Responsible for and the management of periodic physical inventory cycle counts.
  4. Maintains 100% location tracking and insures proper FIFO stock rotation.
  5. Processes orders by supervising the scheduling of orders for shipment.
  6. Complies with customer requirements by ensuring error free shipments (PERFECT ORDER.)
  7. Ensures the most cost effective shipping method while meeting customer requirements.
  8. Directs and manage distribution and material support staff, specifies their duties, insures their appropriate training and maintains a performance management system.
  9. Responsible for the management and supervision of commercial driverís license (CDL) and non-CDL drivers.
  10. Knowledge of DOT regulations in order to maintain compliance with state and federal requirements.
  11. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and benchmarking information and trends.
  12. Maintains a Superior Rating with SQF and participates in the monthly internal audit.
  13. Maintains distribution, material handlers and CDL drivers staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and developing personal growth opportunities for all subordinates.
  14. Evaluates staff activities by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as appropriate.
  15. Creates a safe working environment, adheres to all safety and training requirements, oversees forklift operator training, and vehicle maintenance programs to insure that timely training is completed.
  16. Communicates with other department heads to insure coordination of distribution activities with the activities of other departments such as production, other Inline facilities or customer service.
  17. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
  18. Insures company's compliance with appropriate governmental regulatory requirements and promotes affirmative action compliance.
  19. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  20. Follows Product Safety and Quality standards.
  21. Follows FDA GMPís in regards to food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee.
  22. Follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all SQF requirements
  23. Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE)
  24. Practices good housekeeping including clutter-free work area and general cleaning; follows FDA product safety standards.
  25. Ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.
  26. Other duties as assigned.


  1. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university plus 8 to 10 years of distribution management experience.
  2. 3-4 years experience in a bar coding and automated environment required.
  3. Must possess strong computer skills (ie. Microsoft Office and ERP systems.)
  4. Strong interpersonal and team building skills are essential.
  5. Must have the ability to speak, read and write English.
  6. Must have the ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  7. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  8. Must have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  9. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  10. Must be able to compute rate, and percent.
  11. Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  12. Must be able to deal with problems involving a few basic situations.
  13. Must have the ability to understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee usually stands, walks through narrow aisles, or sits at a desk.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision (color coded regrind labels), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
